The Bible T.; occurs only in 2 Nephi viii:33 in a quotation from Isa. ii.

TE-AN'CUM
A great commander and soldier in the Nephite army under Moroni 67-60 B. C. He is introduced to us in Al. xxii:36, 37 as the choice of Moroni to head of the people of Morianton; he slew Morianton and brought back his followers, 67 B. C. In 66 B. C., T., after repulsing the Lamanite forces under Amlickiah in or near the "narrow neck of land," crept into the tent of Amlickiah at night and slew him. Teancum was in Moroni's council of war 63 B. C. and did effective service that same year in the retaking of the city of Mulek. In 60 B. C. when the Lamanites under Ammoron took a final stand in the city of Moroni, T. made his way into the city in the night letting himself down over the walls, and slew Ammoron in his tent as he had done with his brother Amalickiah. But the servant of Ammoron pursued T. and slew him. Seven years intervened between the events in connection with which our hero is first and last mentioned. The record is silent as to his parentage or offspring. Al xxiii:34-44; xxiv; xxix:35-46.

TE-AN'CUM, City of
In C. A. probably. It "lay in the borders by the sea-shore, and it was also near the city Desolation." It was formerly a Nephite possession and was built by them, but fell into the hands of the Lamanites-A.D. 366. In A. D. 362 the Nephites who escaped slaughter and imprisonment fled to T. In A. D. 363 the Nephites repulsed the Lamanites here, but the latter captured it in A. D. 366. About the same year, or year following, the Nephites recaptured it, but lost it again about A. D. 374. It is only mentioned in Mor. ii:1-25.

TE-OM'NER
A Nephite military commander under Helaman. He rendered valuable service in the recapture of the city of Manti in the southwest of the Nephite possessions in their war with the Lamanites under Amalickiah, 62 B. C.-Al. xxiv:136-150.

TIM'O-THY
Younger brother of the third Nephi and second of the quorum of Twelve Disciples chosen by Jesus at the temple in the land Bountiful, A. D. 34. Nephi was the first member in that quorum and was keeper of the sacred records. Timothy had been stoned to death in A. D. 30, and was raised from the dead by Nephi. 3 Ne. iii:59-61; ix:4-19.

Trees
In addition to the vine the B. of M. mentions the fir, olive, cedar, oak, teil and sycamore.

TU'BA-LOTH
A Lamanite king. He was the son of Ammoron who was the brother of Amalickiah who descended from Zoram, Laban's servant. He reigned in the land of Nephi and it is not unlikely that he succeeded his father who was slain by Teancum in 60 B. C., Al. xxix:39-44. It was in 50 B. C. that T. first assumed the limelight. He sends and army down to the land of Zarahemla to invade the Nephites; but the latter under Moronihah capture them, and their leader Coriantumr is slain. Hel. i:15-36.

Twelve Disciples
The Twelve chosen by Jesus, A. D. 34, in the land Bountiful to minister to the people in America, 3 Ne. ix:4-19. They are nowhere called apostles and some doubt the identity of their office with that of the Jerusalem Twelve; howbeit others hold that the former were not dissimilar to the latter in office, or function.

Three of them were changed by Jesus that they should not see death. 3 Ne. xiii:l6-62.

By A. D. 100 the T. D. had all died, save the three who should tarry, "and there were other disciples ordained in their stead." 4 Ne. 15-21.

The T. D. in America are to judge American Israel, and they themselves are to be judged in turn by the Jerusalem Twelve, 1 Ne. iii: 114-117; Morm. i:83, 84. (See Twelve in B. of M. concordance.)
